Join a research project on Bronx High School of Science

CALLING ALUM!

From Ann Higgins-D’Alessandro, PhD – Professor, Psychology – ahiggins@fordham.edu

Thanks for reading this invitation!

I am inviting Bronx High School of Science alum from 1985-1992 to participate in a research study that looks at how life experiences influence adult valuing and civic and social problem-solving and decision-making in daily life. We know that nature and nurture continue to work together throughout life and influence what we see as our successes, what we consider our failures and mistakes, and how we see ourselves. The project goal is to understand adult daily decision making in important domains of parenting, work, and citizenship/civic involvement via work or volunteering and the extent to which high school experiences may still play some role. I conducted research in the 1980’s at Bronx Science on the Civic Education Program (CEP), so I will be following up with many of you as well as welcoming new participants.

Questions will cover your current life but discussion will include ideas of citizenship and society, self-reflections on identity and values/ethics and your life from high school to the present. I am interested in hearing from ANY and ALL Bronx Science alum from that time, and whether or not you participated in the Civic Education Program (CEP), a project I worked on with Lawrence Kohlberg, Harvard, at that time. If you are willing to spend two 45 minute, confidential zoom interviews and complete a 20-minute open-ended email survey to participate, please email me at: ahiggins@fordham.edu. As a token of my genuine appreciation, you will receive $100 in gift cards.

With my regard and best wishes,
