Kimberly Epps

From our classmate, Justine Di Fiore:

Kimberly Y. Epps (Kye), Ph. D

It is with deep sadness that I bring you news of Kim’s passing. Kim died unexpectedly on December 7, 2011. Her achievements, since graduating from The Bronx H.S. of Science, are vast. In particular, her research in the Atlantic Forest region of Brazil, one of the most endangered ecosystems on the planet, had the long range goal of contributing to reforestation efforts and the sustainability of local farming communities. Most recently, Kim worked as a Post Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Environmental Earth System Science at Stanford University.

For those of you who shared in the great opportunity of knowing Kim, please listen now to the echo of your memories. Let your tears feed the ground and the grit of your life; and remember her grace, brilliance, and smile.

Kim’s mother, Yvonne Epps, may be contacted at: 5008 Nagle Ave., Sherman Oaks, CA 91423

Website updates

Yes, the reunion is over. It was a blast! I’ve been trying to squeeze in time to upload over 300 pics of the event and some video but it has been slow-going. I’m trying to get a bunch of different things to all line up properly and it’s just labor intensive. I’m getting there though. You’ll notice that the theme for the site has changed. It’s pretty generic but it has all the right ‘hooks’ in the background to work properly with the changes I’m trying to implement. Once I get a handle on those infrastructure changes, I’ll start to customize this theme to more fit our unique interests. Thank you.

The Final Countdown!

So it’s October 1st, which means we’re just weeks away from the reunion. While we took a bit of a break over the summer, we’ve been busy anew. The attendee list is now completely up to date and our tireless classmate Ellen Hauser should have reached out to all you ticket purchasers for clarification on your name, as we’re in the process of creating the name badges and want to get it right!

Name badges? That’s kind of a hint as to why it benefits you to pay upfront. Folks that have purchased tickets ahead of time will get a professionally printed name tag and lanyard commemorating this reunion! After all, how can we create a name badge for someone ahead of time if they’re paying at the door? There’s even more but we’ll keep it a surprise for now. So if you’re on the fence, you only have a few more days to pay now and and get some nice personalized keepsakes for you at the event!

Ticket prices reduced!

Early bird pricing ended last night at midnight. With such great early sales under our belt, we were able to approach the venue and renegotiate pricing. Due to the graciousness of folks that paid early, we have reduced advance ticket sales to $135 and the price at the door will be $150. We would like to thank those of you that purchased tickets since we opened sales back in March! The momentum and excitement for this event continues to grow at over 170 attendees so far, this will be a fabulous evening to be sure.

2011 Podcast Episode 2

With just THREE days left for early-bird pricing, we present our second Reunion 2011 podcast, with our esteemed host Greg Gattuso interviewing King Phojanakong about life after Bronx Science leading up to his success as a chef and owner of two restaurants in NYC. King was also a guest chef on Bravo TV’s Rocco’s Dinner Party. You can read their blog post about that episode here. Feel free to let them know what you think about our very own King!
